New Media - Designs Website Release
Welcome to New Media - Designs updated website. Today we transition to a full dynamic site with the help of Drupal. With this release comes a commitment to post some useful information on a regular basis. That won't be too hard to start with because I have a list of lessons learned with this Drupal implementation.
Drupal is a wonderful open source framework for a dynamic website. It is a CMS, a Content Management System. It is wonderfully extensible with many contributed modules. But it is a little overwhelming at first to find your way around inside. The beauty of a framework like this is the ease with which you can manage very large sites.
For customers, Drupal is something you might need if you want the ability to manage the content in the site from an administration page without learning too much HTML or CSS.
For developers, it is a good idea to start with "Using Drupal" by Angela Byron et al, O'Reilly 2009. I would also recommend "Front End Drupal: Designing, Theming, Scripting" by K. Kafer and E. Hogbin, 2009. Then after about three sites you will get used to how to build, style and modify the site. I hope your timing is better than mine. I just started feeling comfortable in Drupal 6 in time for Drupal 7 to release.
